I need to visit Lebanon in march of 2011.?

I am an American who needs to visit Lebanon. in march of 2011. Is the country safe ? I heard that it is very beautiful. I cant wait. But I have relatives here in America that are trying to talk me out of going, saying that they kidnap Americans and that the Lebanese don't like Americans.......I might be traveling by myself because relatives have chickened out of going. I will have my future husband waiting for me there to pick me up, so I can meet the family. I love the Lebanese, and I think that Lebanon is beautiful.....what do you think ?
